The Task Force to Study Moving Overhead Utility Lines Underground was created effective January 1, 2003 (Chapter 179, Acts of 2002). The Task Force is to study and identify how to facilitate and reduce the costs of transferring overhead utility lines underground. It also will recommend ways by which public service companies and municipal corporations can coordinate construction, maintenance and repair projects on or near roadways. Additionally, the Task Force will propose plans for the long-term maintenance and repair of utility lines after they are placed underground.
